Trails Committee approves December minutes, discusses boardwalk and bog bridges.

Trails Committee · Meeting of January 13, 2026

Bedford Trails Committee reviews Hartwell boardwalk progress and bog bridge replacements. Chair John Campos III and voting members Daniel Hurwitz, Amit Shahar, and Frank Richichi unanimously approved the December 9, 2025 minutes. The committee discussed board spacing on the Hartwell Town Forest boardwalk, approved 11 thousand dollars in Community Preservation Act funding for March Town Meeting, and noted that the Harvard Pond Notice of Intent review hinges on whether the project exceeds 500 square feet of wetland.

Two Eagle Scout projects are underway: William P. will build approximately 55 feet of bog bridges in Carlson Conservation Area; Adam S. will work on bog bridges in Elm Brook Conservation Area. The committee has scheduled priority trail work including bog bridge replacements at Carlson, Town Campus, and Old Reservoir pending ground thaw.
