Trails Committee conducts comprehensive site assessment at Hartwell Town Forest.

Trails Committee · Meeting of April 12, 2026

BEDFORD — Trails Committee completes site assessment of Hartwell Town Forest to evaluate post-construction conditions. Voting members John Campos III, Peter Desjardins, Frank Richichi, Amit Shahar, Daniel Hurwitz, and Tim Brown conducted a 1.15-mile walk on April 12 and documented extensive damage from construction equipment, including deep tire ruts requiring landscaping equipment repairs, unused construction debris and helical piles scattered throughout the site, and poor trail blazing with faded markings and illegible signs. The committee determined that one overgrown trail should be abandoned and identified sections requiring gravel fill and professional maintenance beyond volunteer capacity.
