Planning Board grants 90-day Bowman Gardens extension

Planning Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Bedford Planning Board trims a Bowman Gardens extension request from a year to 90 days. Applicant Eldon Munson of Munson & Associates LLC sought a full-year extension of the 62-unit senior housing project's 2024 site plan approval, but board members said traffic and parking problems at the Market and Main site, owned by Encore Commercial LLC, had to be addressed first. Traffic engineer Bob Duval said a new study using current counts is underway and should be done in three to four months.

One board member said recent near-miss complaints on South River Road show "it is clearly a problem." The board also unanimously approved a digital price sign at Heaven's Gas Station on Boynton Street, a driveway waiver on Darling Street, and a Level 2 Home Occupation Permit for seasonal vehicle storage on Jenkins Road. Munson said a shorter extension could jeopardize financing talks already underway.
