BEDFORD — Trails Committee reports completion of bog bridge work at multiple sites and discusses $17,000 boardwalk extension at Hartwell Forest. Chair John Campos reported that community volunteer Dave Hansen completed extensive work at Springs Brook, while the committee finished bog bridge replacements at Carlson C.A. and reblazing at Hartwell Town Forest. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection denied the committee's permit application for bog bridges at Harvard Pond without prejudice, prompting discussion of wetland mitigation alternatives.
Kristin Dowdy of the Department of Public Works provided the $17,000 estimate for additional boardwalk extension with sufficient funds available for the change order.
