TAC endorses traffic camera legislation; ghost bike location reviewed

Transportation Advisory Committee · Meeting of March 4, 2026

BEDFORD — The Transportation Advisory Committee endorsed pending state traffic safety camera legislation and recommended the Select Board lobby local legislators for its passage. The vote was 5-0-1, with Paul Mortenson abstaining; members noted the bills prohibit photographing operators and render enforcement non-reportable for insurance purposes. The committee unanimously backed three warrant items for the April Annual Town Meeting: the Cottage Overlay District, capital Project 27-02 for the Town Common, and Project 27-06 for traffic calming.

Members also discussed the location of the Tamar Vishlitzky ghost bike memorial near a guard rail, assigning Stu Trout to consult with the Department of Public Works and Town Manager about the original installation and potential relocation.
