Recreation Commission approves tent rental, explores AED and fire station projects.

BEDFORD — Recreation Commission unanimously approved a $3,000 tent rental for six weeks of summer programming behind the high school. Chair Robin Steele oversaw discussion of two major initiatives: a student-led proposal to install AEDs at four priority field locations (estimated $3,000 to $4,000 per unit), requiring fire department and Board of Health coordination and grant exploration; and the commission's formal interest in the town's old fire station repurposing plan for potential recreation center or community space use. Recreation Director Josh Smith will register the commission's interest with town management.
Summer programs have hired 75 staff with over 50 trained in CPR and first aid; Springs Brook Park opens June 19th.
