Narrow Gauge Rail Trail Closes at Billerica Line for Bike Path Project

A stretch of the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail near the Billerica town line is temporarily closed as Billerica breaks ground on a two-year project to build its own Yankee Doodle Bike Path, according to a notice posted to the town's website Sunday.

The Town of Billerica has begun construction on the Yankee Doodle Bike Path, a project expected to take two years to complete, starting at the Bedford town line along the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail. The work closes that section of the popular multi-use trail to walkers, runners and cyclists for the duration of construction, the town's News Flash announcement said.
