Hanscom AFB Exercise Runs Through August 14 Amid Bedford Infrastructure Work

BEDFORD — Bedford residents can expect added activity around Hanscom Air Force Base this month as an ongoing military exercise runs through August 14, even as the town's contractor keeps working through a sewer main project on Burlington Road.

The Town of Bedford is notifying residents of an ongoing exercise at Hanscom Air Force Base running from August 3 through August 14, according to a News Flash posted to the town's website. No further detail on the scope of the exercise was provided in the notice.

Separately, the town's contractor, C. Naughton, will continue construction activities for the Middlesex Sewer Force Main Project along Burlington Road, work that began the week of August 3 and is expected to continue into this month, per the town's News Flash.

In an update to the fire station utility work covered in recent days, the town has set new overnight construction hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for August 10, 11, and 12, tied to the ongoing Bedford Fire Station project.

The Bedford Public Library is recruiting volunteers to help unload a semitruck full of pumpkins into its Pumpkin Patch this fall, with trucks arriving October 5 at 2 p.m. and October 12 at 11 a.m. Volunteers who sign up by September 1 will receive a free T-shirt, the library said.

COMING UP

The Select Board meets Monday, August 10, at 7 p.m. in the Select Board Room. On Tuesday, August 11, the Board of Assessors, the Planning Board, and the Hanscom Field Advisory Commission are all scheduled to meet. Overnight utility work near the fire station site is set for 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on August 10, 11, and 12.
