Finance Committee Reviews $25.8 Million FY27 Budget Proposal

BEDFORD — Finance Committee reviews $25.8 million FY27 budget proposal with staffing reductions. The Finance Committee on Thursday heard Town Manager Matthew Hanson present the town's proposed fiscal 2027 budget at $25,828,000, a 2 percent increase over FY26 and below the Finance Committee's 2.5 percent guideline. The plan reduces road spending to $1.6 million while including approximately three FTE position reductions across five departments, a substantial Police overtime increase to address a long-standing deficit, and a 2.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment for non-union staff.
Shawsheen Regional Technical High School's enrollment is projected to grow eight students, with its budget increasing $300,000 to $1.529 million. The Board of Assessors overlay increases to $1 million.
