Finance Committee reorganizes; members discuss Town Meeting lessons

Finance Committee · Meeting of April 16, 2026

BEDFORD — Finance Committee reorganizes, names Ben Thomas Chair and Philip Prince Vice Chair. The committee spent much of its April 16 meeting dissecting the recent Town Meeting, with members voicing frustration over late warrant delivery, inadequate article write-ups, and insufficient floor advocacy. Allen Jimerson volunteered to draft a Citizen article on the financial implications of budget amendments.

Discussion of a potential Shawsheen Technical School prompted requests for scenario modeling of borrowing costs and impacts on the town's debt capacity and credit rating. The next meeting is scheduled for June 8 to address year-end reserves and other balancing transfers. ===END BRIEF===
