Finance Committee amends FY27 non-discretionary budget to $45.7 million

BEDFORD — Finance Committee endorses $45.7 million non-discretionary budget and clears most ATM warrant articles. Chair Ben Thomas led the seven-member committee to unanimous approval of the Vocational Education budget increase, special education reserve fund appropriations, PEG Access funding, and Charter and Bylaw amendments addressing town meeting and election procedures. The committee voted 6-1-0 to recommend the Shawsheen Technical High School feasibility study, with a preliminary $350 million construction estimate that would obligate Bedford to approximately 10 percent of costs under its memorandum of agreement.
Town Manager Matthew Hanson noted the study will take 12 to 18 months, with future debt exclusion funding likely required.
