Energy Committee Advances Manager Hire, Website Launch

Bedford's Energy Committee received 18 applications for a new Community and Sustainability Manager this week. Chair Patricia Fabian reported that approximately 80 percent of applicants have sustainability experience, with interviews expected to begin the following week. The committee advanced planning for the Energize Bedford residential website featuring customizable modules on Community Choice Aggregation, home energy assessments, and curbside composting.
Housing and Economic Development Director Eric Salerno updated the committee on cultural district initiatives, affordable housing assistance providing up to eight months rent relief for households below 60 percent of Area Median Income, and the Middlesex 3 Coalition regional development efforts. The committee discussed emerging technologies including battery energy storage systems and Fourth Power, an MIT spinoff building at 44 Middlesex Road using molten tin energy storage.
