Council on Aging shifts meeting schedule, pursues FY27 budget advocacy

BEDFORD — Council on Aging changes schedule, crafts year-long budget advocacy plan. With only a 2 percent budget increase recommended amid town cutbacks, the board voted to change meetings to the fourth Tuesday of each month and outlined a sustained strategy to secure FY27 funding for an enhanced medical transportation program, including plans to acquire a second vehicle. Director Alison Cservenschi launched an online Unipay donation system and the Friends of the COA committed $500 monthly for medical rides starting February 1.
Beginning in March, the office will trial Friday closures at 1:30 p.m. to adjust to reduced staff hours. The board will partner with the Disability Commission for an MBTA Ride presentation in March.
