Bedford Council on Aging adopts advocacy strategy to address budget constraints. Chair Paul Fath presided over a meeting in which the board voted 6-0-0 to shift its meeting schedule to the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. Director Alison Cservenschi reported that the Finance Committee's recommended 2 percent budget increase for FY27 is insufficient for new initiatives such as an enhanced medical rides program, spurring the board to pursue a proactive, multi-pronged advocacy strategy including mobilizing residents at Select Board and Finance Committee meetings throughout the year.
The Friends of the Council on Aging committed $500 monthly specifically for medical rides beginning February 1st.
