Community Media Committee · Meeting of January 28, 2026

BEDFORD — Community Media Committee approves $303,286 FY2027 budget for Bedford TV. Chair Matthew Porter led a unanimous 4-0 vote allocating $252,536 for operating expenses, $35,000 for studio rental, and $15,750 for a new closed captioning system required by federal ADA law; compliance is due by April 2027 for towns under 50,000. The $12,324 increase from FY2026 reflects salary, insurance, and other adjustments.

The committee expressed concern about the long-term sustainability of the PEG Access Special Revenue Account, which is supported by declining cable franchise fees and may be exhausted within 3 to 7 years.
