BEDFORD — The Commission on Disability decided against a resident snow-clearing mandate. Sarah Blackman researched ten comparable Massachusetts towns and found none require residents to clear within 72 hours; DPW handles snow clearing in towns this size. The commission will instead advocate for a town education campaign and a snow service for residents with disabilities, modeled on Concord.
Discussion also focused on rapid flashing beacons paired with accessible pedestrian signals, with potential coordination to the Willson Park project. Member Ann Guay's term ends in June after 29 years of service; Chair Blackman is open to stepping down as chair. Town Hall's accessible entrance will be unavailable through December during ramp reconstruction; commission meetings move to Zoom during that period.
