Bedford Select Board appoints Andrew Amendola as Police Chief, approves $1.2 million in DPW equipment purchases

Bedford Select Board appoints Police Chief Andrew Amendola in 4-1 vote. Amendola, currently Chief in Carlisle, brings nearly 30 years of military and law enforcement experience and will start June 8, 2026, under a three-year Grade 10 contract. Member Terrence Parker dissented, citing concerns about community transparency in the hiring process.
The Board also unanimously approved $559,000 in net DPW vehicle purchases from Gervais Ford, MTE Equipment Solutions, and C.N. Wood, and greenlit a $825,642.34 contract with Commonwealth Construction and Utilities for the Springs Road Watermain Replacement Project, installing approximately 2,400 linear feet of ductile iron water main.
